Preserving your sight for a lifetime
The practice
24 years in Hackney
Infocus has been part of the Hackney community since 2002. Over that time we have carried out tens of thousands of sight tests for local families, many of whom now bring their own children to us.
We are a small, independent practice, and that shapes how we work. You see the same optometrist each visit, appointments are not rushed, and we would rather tell you your glasses are fine than sell you a new pair.
If you qualify under the NHS scheme, your sight test is free. We will tell you at the point of booking whether you do.
The optometrist
Mushir Bakhsh
Founder and optometrist · 24 years in Hackney
Mushir qualified as a dispensing optician in 1992 and as an optometrist in 1995. He opened Infocus on Well Street in 2002, and has tested eyes in Hackney every week since.
He also works as a specialist glaucoma optometrist for Moorfields Eye Hospital, at its Mile End outreach clinic. That hospital work comes back into the practice: he runs a clinic here reviewing stable glaucoma patients locally, so people who would otherwise travel across London for a routine check can have it done on their own high street.
It is also why the practice has stayed small. He would rather see the same patients for twenty years — and now their children — than run a chain.
